Container Loading And Export Documents: A Motorcycle Importer’s Checklist

A great price means little if a bike arrives damaged or stuck in customs. Professional packing and complete paperwork protect your investment. Use this checklist before your next motorcycle container ships.

Before loading

  • Confirm each unit against its invoice, VIN/frame number and condition grade.
  • Drain or secure fuel as required, disconnect or protect batteries, and immobilise moving parts.
  • Wrap and crate vulnerable bodywork; photograph every unit for your records.

Loading the container

  • Distribute weight evenly and lash every bike to prevent shifting in transit.
  • Use wheel chocks and soft ties to avoid scratches and paint damage.
  • Maximise space safely — good loading lowers your per-unit freight cost.

Export documents you will need

  • Commercial invoice and packing list.
  • Bill of lading.
  • Export certificate / de-registration for used Japanese units.
  • Any certificates of origin or inspection your destination requires.
